GHS JV falls to Owen Valley

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

SPENCER -- The Greencastle JV Boys' basketball team made the long trek to Owen Valley on Tuesday and came away on the short end of a 38-32 score.

Falling behind early, the young Tiger Cubs righted the ship and led by TWO, 16-14, at the half.

Five GHS players scored in the second frame, none scoring more than 3 points.

Things were pretty even in the third, with the Patriots eventually outscoring the Tiger Cubs 10-9, setting up another wild final period.

Again, things stayed tight until the final minute of the game when Owen Valley hit a couple of deuces and sealed the game by hitting two free throws.

Coach Doug Hudson was again pleased with how the team responded after a sluggish start. He also feels his team is playing pretty good basketball at the end of the season, which is what a team and coach wants.

Going 4-3 in its last 7 games, GHS has not lost by more than 6 points in its three losses.

Jacob Lewis had a great game, leading the Tiger Cubs in scoring with 10 points, garnering 11 deflections, and numerous rebounds on both ends of the floor.

Greencastle (9-8, 4-1 WCC) concludes its season, and Coach Hudson's coaching tenure, with a game at North Montgomery Friday.
