Fourth-grade students from Mrs. Kemp and Mrs. Bookwalter's classes at Cloverdale Elementary recently participated in their own version of the Super Bowl. However, this community project challenge had a different goal in mind. Over a two-week period, students collected canned goods, including soups, to participate in the "SOUP"er Bowl competition. Each class had the goal of collecting at least 100 items. Students kept track of their daily progress on a football field display located outside their classroom. Both classes were able to exceed their goal and the results were more than 200 cans collected. These items will be donated to the Soul Harvest Church food bank. Overall, the girls edged out the boys with a final score of 53 percent of the girls reaching their target.

Also participating and scoring a winning touchdown for their team in the Super Bowl Division were (from left) Iceleigh Lewis, Abbi Yartz, Kimberlee Kirby, Taylor Chism, Audrie Fulkerson, Amanda Cady, Katie Freund and Lauren Zimmerman.
