First Celebrate 4 planning meeting slated for Thursday

Sunday, March 2, 2014

The local Independence Day celebration committee, Celebrate 4, is organizing the 2014 Celebrate 4 Committee.

The first public interest meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at City Hall in Greencastle.

Celebrate 4 is looking for interested groups from Greencastle and the surrounding Putnam County communities to create another patriotic team of citizens, neighbors, students, moms and dads, friends, non-for-profits, small businesses, large businesses and service groups.

Organizers are especially looking for those interested in coming together to help preserve the traditions of celebrating the Fourth of July with festival and fireworks at Robe-Ann Park in Greencastle.

Working with the Greencastle Friends of the Park Association, Celebrate 4 operates as a non-for-profit committee that survives solely on monetary contributions, grants, booth fees and in-kind donations to subsidize the costs of conducting the annual community Fourth of July event.

All interested persons are urged to bring his or her planning skills and new ideas to the opening session.

For more information, persons may call City Hall at 653-3100.
