County Jail

Seven people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Kyle Alan McCammon, 26, Cloverdale, was charged with violation of home detention, domestic battery and strangulation.

* At 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Andrew Gibson, 20, Roachdale, was charged with theft and burglary.

At 2:30 p.m., Charles Christopher Frye, 26, Brazil, was arrested on invasion of privacy.

At 3:45 a.m., Logan Daniel Townsend, 19, Poland, was charged with being a minor in consumption of alcohol and possession of a syringe.

At 10:51 p.m., David Devon McDonald, 51, Indianapolis, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

At 11:03 p.m., Christopher Lee Devin McDonald, 23, Indianapolis, was charged with possession of paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance.

At 11:31 p.m., Tommy Lee Gaines, 41, Indianapolis, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Sheriff's Dept.

Two recent property-damage accidents were investigated by Putnam County Sheriff's Department depu-ties.

* At 1:35 p.m. Monday, Linda Bruner, 46, Crawfordsville, was northbound on U.S. 231, approaching County Road 25 South in a 2001 Ford Explorer.

Bruner told Lt. Donnie Pettit that she failed to see Nathan Smith, 31, Roachdale, who was stopped in traffic on U.S. 231 at County Road 25 South and struck his 1997 Ford F150 in the rear.

Smith informed Pettit that he was on U.S. 231 stopped in traffic for another vehicle from northbound U.S. 231 when his truck was rear-ended.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 1:16 p.m. on Wednesday, Vickie J. Briones, 52, Poland, was southbound on County Road 500 West and due to the road conditions she was driving left of center as she approached a sweeping right turn.

Briones told Deputy Mike Downing that she realized that the oncoming vehicle, driven by Holly A. Jordan, 21, Centerpoint was also left of center.

Downing noted that Briones swerved her 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer to the right, but was unable to avoid a head-on collision with Jordan's 2009 Chevrolet HHR, coming to rest facing south on the west side shoulder of County Road 500 West with Jordan coming to rest racing south in the center of County Road 500 West.

Both drivers declined medical attention at the scene and were transported by family members to the hospital.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

City Police

Four traffic citations were issued recently by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 12:39 a.m. Monday, Derick Pemberton, 18, Greencastle, was ticketed at Locust and Washington streets by Officer Kyle Lee for a learner's permit violation.

-- At 10:21 p.m. Saturday, Aneka Owens, 36, Germantown, Md., was ticketed for speeding by Officer Eastham. She was stopped on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsville Street, for 51 mph in a 30-mph zone.

-- At 2:10 p.m. Feb. 28, Michael Metz, 37, Brazil, was cited on State Road 240 by Officer Albert Epple for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

-- At 5:02 p.m. Feb. 27, Terry Maynard, 24, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Lee at North Indiana and New York streets for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.
