FRANKLIN -- DePauw softball trailed early in game one on Tuesday but rallied for a 7-6 win at Franklin and then never trailed in the nightcap and took a 7-1 victory in a game shortened to five innings due to darkness. The Grizzlies dropped to 6-4 with the losses.

Franklin scored twice in the bottom of the first before the Tigers cut that lead in half after Linsey Button doubled, moved to third on Sammi Bell's groundout and scored on Lauren Krumwiede's sacrifice bunt.

The hosts made it 3-1 with one in the bottom of the second, but the Tigers knotted the score in the third on Jennifer Ridge's two-run single.

Franklin's Taylor Johnson clubbed a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth, but the Tigers plated four in the sixth. Haleigh Chasteen's single scored Ridge before Button's double moved pinch-runner Morgan Pigusch to third. Bell reached on a fielder's choice that scored Pigusch and advanced Button to third. After Bell stole second, Button came home on Krumwiede's grounder. A throwing error on the play allowed Bell to score and gave DePauw a 7-5 lead.

Kaite Struewing led off the Franklin seventh with a single and scored on McKensie Vanosdol's double. Michelle Murphy entered as a pinch-runner and move to third when Jeana Gregory reached on a DePauw error. Kahla Nolan retired the final two batters to end the game.

Button paced DePauw with two of its six hits, while Struewing had three for Franklin and Vanosdol had a pair.

Nolan improved to 2-3 and struck out five, while Vanosdol dropped to 5-1.

DePauw wasted little time in game two with three runs each in the opening two innings. Bell's two-run double scored Ridge and Julie Waggoner before Chasteen came home on Taylor Golden's grounder. In the second, Chasteen and Button drove in one each with singles and Chasteen came home on a double steal attempt.

Gregory's single in the bottom of the second allowed Savannah Blevins to score and the Tigers tacked on one more in the fifth when Bell singled home Megan Landahl.

Chasteen had three of DePauw's 10 hits, while Gabby Smart, Button and Grace Hendrickson each had two hits. Blevins led Franklin with two hits.

Nolan picked up the win to improve to 3-3 and allowed just four hits with no earned runs. Nichole Brown dropped to 1-2 with the loss.
