Two DePauw players, coach named All-Great Lakes Region
Following a 27-1 regular season, DePauw's women placed two players on the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region teams as well as the region's top coach.
DePauw senior forward Alex Gasaway was named to the first team for the second straight year after earning third team all-America honors last year and first team pre-season all-America accolades prior to this season.
During the regular season Gasaway was second on the team with 12.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game and shared the team lead with 36 steals. She finished her career ranked fifth in DePauw history with both 1,248 career points and 684 career rebounds. The two-time all-North Coast Athletic Conference first team selection is the only player in DePauw history to score at least 1,200 points and grab 600 rebounds. Gasaway also earned Capital One Division III Women's Basketball Third Team Academic All-America® honors last month.
Junior guard Savannah Trees was chosen to the region's second team after earning first team all-NCAC this year.
In the regular season, Trees led DePauw with 14.1 points per game and was second with 2.1 assists. She finished the campaign with 458 points which equaled the sixth-best total in a DePauw season. On Saturday, she became the 16th player to top the 1,000-point plateau and will enter her senior season ranked 14th in DePauw history with 1,017 points.
Head coach Kris Huffman was named the region's top coach for the second straight year after leading the Tigers to a third straight NCAC title, a fifth straight conference title overall and an 11th consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III tournament.
In 21 sesaons as DePauw's head coach, Huffman has directed the Tigers to a 496-104 record with 15 NCAA appearances, two national titles and six trips to the national quarterfinals.
