Council waiting to move forward on website, book of ordinances

Saturday, March 22, 2014

A pair of proposals that will ultimately provide better information about Putnam County government will have to wait.

County Attorney Jim Ensley went before the council discussing a $3,500 proposal for Jon Tesmer to update the county website.

The item remained for discussion only at Tuesday's meeting, as there is currently no contract with Tesmer for the services.

Ensley advised he has been working with Tesmer on a contract and will be back before the council for approval at a future meeting.

A proposal to improve the accessibility of county ordinances and zoning laws will be a bit more pricey.

Continuing a discussion from the Monday meeting of the county commissioners, Ensley informed the council of a $14,375 proposal from American Legal Publishing to codify county law.

To locate a county ordinance currently, one must search through years and years of meeting minutes.

It would be possible to pay for the books over two or three budget years.

In other business:

* Nancy Zennie was reappointed to the Putnam County Public Library Board.

* Council gave aproval for two part-time hires at the sheriff's department and one in the microfilm office.
