Saturday, March 22, 2014

In voting by members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, DePauw senior forward Alex Gasaway has been selected to the Division III Coaches' All-America Team as an honorable mention selection.

Gasway was second on the team in both scoring (12.9) and rebounding (6.1) and shot 48.6 percent from the floor. A two-time all-North Coast Athletic Conference first team selection, Gasaway is the only player in DePauw history to score at least 1,200 points and grab 600 rebounds after finishing her career ranked fifth in both categories with 1,248 points and 684 boards.

The third team D3hoops.com All-America choice last year and first team preseason selection this year also earned Capital One Division III Women's Basketball Third Team Academic All-America® honors last month. Gasway was named a D3hoops.com First Team All-Great Lakes Region choice earlier this week.

DePauw coach Kris Huffman was voted the Region Six Coach of the Year and is one of 10 finalists for the Pat Summit Trophy which will be presented to the WBCA/NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year at the WBCA Awards Show on Monday, April 7, in Nashville, Tennesee,

Huffman led the Tigers to the national quarterfinals for the second straight season and sixth time in the last 13 seasons. DePauw made its 15th NCAA appearance under Huffman and 11th straight. In 21 seasons as DePauw's head coach, her teams have posted a 496-104 record. This marks the fifth time in Huffman's career that she's been named the regional coach of the year and first since 2006.
