The Greencastle High School track and field team traveld to Indiana Wesleyan to compete in the Division 1A -3A championships Sunday.

Sophomore Katerina King finished fifth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.10. Junior Jessica Lenihan placed fourth in the shot put. Her distance of 38- 10.5 set a new school record.

The 4x200 relay team of freshman Sarah Miller, King, sophomore Bailey Lausee, and junior Erica Hoagland placed 11th with 1:54.99.

The 4x800 relay team of freshman Katie Hayes, juniors Brittany Love and Samantha Haynes, and senior Megan Hayes placed 23rd with a time of 11:29.31.

"An exciting day with two events placing and winning medals by placing in top eight," Greencastle coach Garry Anderson said. "We had to run the 4x800 relay with two substitute runners due to others going on vacation but they still competed well. Nice to see Jessica break the old record set by Kristen Ness in 2008."

  • As always Cloverdale gets no recognition. Their boys team also competed at the same Indoor State.
