South Putnam Alumni Banquet reservations due by March 31

The third annual South Putnam Alumni Banquet, scheduled for Saturday, April 12 in the SPHS cafeteria, will begin with a tour and social hour at 5 p.m. followed by a catered meal at 6 p.m.

Brad Booe will serve as emcee for the event which will feature the 1973 and 1988 classes, and honoring some special alumni.

This year's Hall of Fame recipients will be Greg Swanson, Shea Goodpaster and Steve Hammond.

The first class for the Retired Teachers/adm-inistrators Hall of Fame will be William "Bill" Gardner and Becky Brothers.

Teacher grant awards will be presented to Tona Gardner, Caitlynn Bryan and Jill McCammack.

The South Putnam Community Education Foundation Scholarship will be awarded to Kyndra Mackenzie Boyce, while the Wildman Leadership Scholarship will be awarded to Lane Hacker.

Registration needs to be completed by March 31 and can be delivered directly to Foundation Executive Treasurer David Greenburg of Greenburg Accounting in Greencastle or by contacting board members Steve Cash, Anita Ferrand, Mark Wildman, Charlie Cook or Earlene Gossard.

  • I absolutely adored Becky Brothers and think she was one of the great teachers to pass the halls of South Putnam. I find it interesting Steve Cash disqualified other teachers who did not retire from South. Even a teacher that did retire from teaching but not the school was disqualified. I really don't think Becky should have this "Hall of Fame" award since she didn't retire either.
