DePauw.edu ranked among top 30 college websites

According to the Web Design Degree Center, the DePauw University website ranks among the 30 most effective designs in the nation

The design of DePauw University's website, DePauw.edu, is among the top 30 colleges in the nation, according to the Web Design Degree Center.

The Michigan-based organization released a list of the top sites via Yahoo! Finance this recetnly.

"This is one of the first major rankings of college website designs, and evaluates web design factors such as accessibility, usefulness, branding, responsiveness, look and feel on various platforms (mobile, desktop), design elements, and visuals," the announcement notes.

After evaluating thousands of school websites using the above criteria, the editors of Web Design Degree Center selected what they viewed as the 30 most effective designs.

"A university's website is part of its very identity (and) it's such a pleasure to see how some schools have really gone the extra mile to offer an exciting online experience," chief author and researcher for the list Yusuf Laher said.

University websites are not only often a student's first contact with a university, they go on to serve as a portal for enrolled students, offering direction when it comes to programming, campus activities, scheduling, and other things necessary for an enriching student experience.

In addition to DePauw, universities and colleges that made the list Bates College, Bay State College, Belmont University, Biola Undergrad, Bob Jones University, Boston University, Brooklyn College, Brown University, Champlain College, Clemson University, Davidson College, Delaware Valley College, Drexel University, Full Sail University and Harvard University.

Also, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland Institute College of Art, Middlebury College, Neumont University, Oberlin College, Rhode Island School of Design, Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, Saint Joseph's University, School of Visual Arts, Stonehill College, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, University of Chicago, University of Notre Dame and University of Rochester.
