Board engagement and impact is topic of April 8 workshop

The Putnam County Community Foundation has announced that Bryan Orander of Charitable Advisors LLC is coming to Greencastle April 8 to help local leaders increase the impact of their organizations through board assessment and development.

The workshop will take place on April 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be conducted at the Inn at DePauw in Greencastle.

Orander has more than 17 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. He is the founder of Charitable Advisors LLC, co-founder of the "Get on Board" board member recruiting event, and co-founder of the Nonprofit Solutions Initiative at the IUPUI Solutions Center.

In describing the workshop, Bryan said, "This workshop is a great place to start for nonprofit organizations of all sizes that are focusing on improving the engagement and impact of the board and board members."

During the workshop, Bryan will discuss the many benefits of a board assessment, including board education, reflection, and identifying steps for improvement. He will also discuss the "Board-Building Cycle" which covers nine important practices that will lead to more consistent board development and performance.

This is the second workshop in the 2014 Nonprofit Learning Series.

Coordinated by the Putnam County Community Foundation and the Montgomery County Community Foundation, the Nonprofit Learning Series increases attendees' personal, professional and organizational effectiveness.

The cost to attend the workshop is $25 or $15 if registered and paid by April 1. The cost includes the workshop, a catered lunch and all workshop materials.
