Eyes on the skies program postponed

Tuesday, April 1, 2014

The Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department program "Look Up in the Sky Day!" scheduled for Friday, April 4 was postponed by bad weather.

"After talking with our guests and hosts (including Chris Edwards of Putnam County Emergency Management and Howard Brooks of DePauw University) about tonight's program, we have decided for everyone's enjoyment we will postpone the event," Troy Scott, Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department assistant director, said.

"With the wind, overcast skies and the chill, we feel you would not get the best experience," he added.

A reschedule date will be announced in the near future.

"We are excited about this program, and want to bring it soon," Scott said.

He urged everyone to spend a few minutes this evening thinking about emergency plans for their household. Part of the program would have asked:

-- What to do if we have flooding or extremely heavy rain?

-- What to do if severe thunderstorms are predicted?

-- What is your plan should the possibility of tornados be announced?

-- Where is the safest place in your home or on your property?
