Area 30 students inducted into the National Technical Honor Society
Area 30 Career Center recently inducted 73 new members to the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) and recognized 20 returning members during a ceremony held in the school's cafeteria.
For more than 30 years, the National Technical Honor Society has been the acknowledged leader in the recognition of outstanding student achievement in career and technical education.
Serving nearly 200,000 members, NTHS awards more than $160,000 in scholarships to its members annually. NTHS honors the achievements of the top CTE students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education and cultivates excellence in today's competitive, skilled workforce.
North Putnam High School Principal Alan Zerkel was the guest speaker for the evening's ceremony, during which he offered words of praise and encouragement to the inductees and members by personalizing his address to include several students personal goals and even their favorite teachers.
"It was a wonderful evening for our students to showcase their achievements," NTHS advisors Kami Hyde and Marcia Murtagh said.
To be considered for NTHS, students must demonstrate high achievement at Area 30 and their home high school, have excellent attendance, commendable behavior and engage in community service projects.
The objectives of NTHS are to bring fully merited recognition, scholarship and career opportunities to students who exceed in a career and technical education fields as their profession. Students not only symbolize the seven attributes of NTHS, but demonstrate the talent, understanding and by embrace challenges to be competitive in their role that is necessary for today's workforce.
