County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

* At 10:50 a.m., Melissa Hargis-McClulough, 43, Cloverdale, was charged with a probation violation.

At 6:37 p.m., Dominique Armoni Johnson, 22, Terre Haute, was charged with a probation violation and possession of marijuana.

City Police

One arrest was reported Thursday by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 10:40 p.m., Sgt. Charles Inman arrested Guy Mitch Marlow, 21, Greencastle, at an Albin Pond Road apartment.

Marlow was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on charges of criminal confinement.

Meanwhile, Tonya Benassi, 41, Greencastle, will be summoned into court, City Police said, on a possession of marijuana charge after an early morning incident on Wednesday.

Officer Eric Vaughan reported spotting Benassi sitting in the middle of Avenue B before she reportedly got up and stumbled toward her car.

Three recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 3:56 a.m. Tuesday, Scott A. Blackford, 25, Greencastle, was cited on State Road 240 by Reserve Officer Jes Seipel for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

-- At 9:50 a.m. March 29, Emilie Hofferber, 18, Naples, Fla., was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for speeding on Bloomington Street, south of Martinsville Street. She was cited for 55 mph in a 30-mph zone.

-- At 5:27 a.m. March 29, Officer Eastham cited Latasha L. Kester, 27, Reelsville, for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle on State Road 240 in Chadd Valley.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to a number of calls this week, including two medical assistance responses.

* On March 29 at 9:13 a.m., GFD was dispatched to 209 W. Liberty St. to investigate a fire alarm that had been triggered a sprinkler system. GFD fixed the alarm and returned to the station.

* On March 30 at 9:44 a.m., GFD responded to a report of smoke near Crowe's Bridge, upon investigation it was determined to have been a campfire.

* On March 30 at 4:06 p.m., a fire alarm went off at the Putnam County Courthouse. Upon arrival, GFD determined that it was due to a malfunction with the compressor of the sprinkler system. Building maintenance arrived to resolve the issue.

* On March 31 at 3:25 p.m., the GFD was called to the location of a grass fire at 1304 E. CR 25 South. The fire was extinguished successfully before 4 p.m.

* On March 31 at 3:29 p.m., GFD was directed to 11 E. Larabee St. in response to a fire alarm. Upon arrival, GFD found building maintenance fixing the false alarm.

* On April 1 at 6:31 a.m., GFD was called upon for an elevator rescue at Greencastle High School. The individual was removed from the stalled elevator and elevator service operators were called to fix the problem.

* On April 1 at 12:22 p.m., GFD was dispatched to 300 South 10th St. to investigate a fire alarm. It was determined the alarm had been accidentally triggered by building maintenance.
