New Walk and Talk event slated for April and May at Sports Park

Friday, April 4, 2014

The Putnam County Health Coalition and Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department have announced their newest free program, Walk and Talk.

On Tuesday and Thursday evenings from April 8 to May 29 walkers will meet at the central shelterhouse, the one nearest the restrooms and concessions stand in the center of Big Walnut Sports Park.

Walk and Talk is slated from 5:30-7 p.m.

The goal of Walk and Talk is promoting better health with an untimed walk around Big Walnut Sports Park. Participants are invited to bring family and friends, strollers, maybe even a bicycle or roller blades.

Everyone will go at his or her own pace, maybe one lap around the 1.28-mile track or maybe more. Walkers are urged to stop by the shelter to sign in so organizers can recognize everyone who makes at least 10 walks.

Walk and Talk is scheduled for 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24 and 29 and May 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 and 29.
