Property tax statements have been mailed

Sunday, April 13, 2014

Putnam County Treasurer Sharon Owens has announced that property tax statements have been mailed.

Spring tax installments will be due May 12 and fall tax installments on Nov. 12.

Property owners will have four different options by which to pay their taxes.

Taxes can be paid at one of four banks: Old National Bank, First National Bank, Tri-County Bank and North Salem State Bank. However, taxpayers must have their tax statement with them in order to make a payment at the bank locations.

Taxes can be paid by using a credit card or debit card at www.putnamtax.net or by calling 1-800-809-5849. Website payments will be charged a fee by PowerPay equal to 2.95% of the total tax paid at the time of each payment of taxes. The minimum processing fee will be $3 per online payment. If paid by phone, PowerPay has a minimum $5 fee.

If paying by mail, send to Putnam County Treasurer, PO Box 508, Greencastle, IN 46135.

Tax payments will be considered on time as long as the postmark is on or before May 12 for the spring installment and on or before Nov. 10 for the fall installment.

Residents may also pay in the Putnam County Treasurer's Office, located on the second floor of the courthouse, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Payments are only accepted at the office by check, money order or cash. No credit card or debit card payments will be accepted in the Putnam County Treasurer's office.

Anyone with questions may reach the treasurer's office at 653-4510 or treasurer@putnamcountyin.us.
