Greencastle Band earns gold rating at ISSMA competition

BRAZIL -- The Greencastle High School Band performed Friday, April 11 at the ISSMA Organizational Contest at Northview High School in Brazil.

The band was entered in Division III, and was adjudicated by three music directors from around the state.

GHS received a gold rating from all three judges.

After their performance, the band participated in the sight-reading portion of the contest, and also received a gold rating.

The ensemble performed "Emperata Overture" by Claude T. Smith, "Air for Band" by Frank Erickson, and "Where Eagles Soar by Stephen Reinke.

The 72-member band is under the direction of Robert Hedge.
