County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 10:25 p.m. on Friday, Charles Gilbert Kidson Jr., 56, Greenwood, was charged with driving on a suspended license and larceny.

* At 3 a.m. on Saturday, Robert Wayne Jenkins, 48, Spanishburg, W. Va., was arrested for operating while intoxicated, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a synthetic or lookalike substance.

At 4 a.m., Douglas Garrett Coons Jr., 28, Fillmore, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

At 6 p.m., Cary Williams Buchanan, 40, Cloverdale, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

* At 6:05 p.m. on Sunday, Daniel Wayne Jones, 30, Mooresville, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, public intoxication and being a habitual traffic violator.

* At 10:03 a.m. on Monday, Derick Scott Pemberton, 18, Greencastle, was arrested for probation violation.

* At 11:35 a.m., Michael Weitzel, 44, Muncie, was charged with theft.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 1:30 p.m. Friday, Anthony Leonard, 18, Greencastle, was arrested on charges of theft and possession of alcohol by a minor while walking southbound at Redbud and Terrace lanes.

Leonard, who was lodged in the Putnam County Jail, was arrested by Officer Ed Wilson after he reportedly stole alcohol (Jack Daniel's whiskey and Grey Goose vodka) valued at $75.95 from the Kroger store on Indianapolis Road.

-- At 7:12 p.m. Saturday, Bobby Joe Hood II, 21, Bainbridge, was arrested on the First Baptist Church property off Judson Drive on charges of intimidation and harassment.

Taken into custody by Capt. Chris Jones, Hood was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

One recent citation was issued by city officers.

-- At 9:48 pm. Friday, Hayden Rogers, 21, Greencastle, was stopped by Officer Kyle Lee at Fifth Street and Avenue D. Rogers was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff's Dept.

* At 5:12 p.m. on Monday, April 14, Christopher R. Skillern, 43, Coatesville, was crossing U.S. 40 northbound from County Road 1000 East.

Skillern told Sgt. Jon Chadd that when he stopped in the median he was struck from behind by John B. Blaydoe, 78, Eminence.

Blaydoe advised he was also crossing U.S. 40 northbound and didn't see Skillern's 1998 Buick Century and struck the car in the rear with his 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis.

* At 10:47 p.m. on Friday, Shylor K. Clark, 22, Paragon, was eastbound on State Road 42 near County Road 675 East, when her 2009 Chevrolet Impala crossed the center line.

Reserve officer Kent Goldman noted that the vehicle traveled about 40 yards in the eastbound lane before going down an embankment on the north side of State Road 42.

Clark's vehicle then hit a tree causing the vehicle to flip up on end and come down facing back east. Clark then went on to hit another tree before coming to rest.

Clark was given a portable breathalyzer test by Sgt. Craig Sibbitt and tested .173 and was transported to Putnam County Hospital for injuries and arrested for operating while intoxicated.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

* At 1:34 p.m. on Saturday, James D. Bryant, 47, Columbus, was backing his 2007 Dodge Ram up at 253 Stardust Way.

Bryant told Chadd he did not see a 2009 Toyota Highlander owned by Donald and Virginia Phegley, Sullivan, and struck it in the rear.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

At 3:20 a.m., Linda Hamilton, 60, Ladoga, was northbound on U.S. 231, just south of County Road 275 West.

Hamilton told Lt. Donnie Pettit that she struck a deer in the roadway.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

At 9:01 p.m., Joseph M. Walls, 33, Mooresville, were attempting to push his disabled 1994 Toyota Shortbed 4x4 out of the roadway on County Road 300 West, just south of County Road 550 South.

Deputy Kyle Gibbons stated that at that time, Patrick D. Quillin, 67, Cloverdale, was cresting the hill northbound on County Road 300 West in a 2005 Mini Cooper S Series.

Quillin attempted to swerve to miss Walls, but was incapable of making such maneuvers and ultimately struck the rear of Walls' vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 11:47 p.m. on Sunday, Haley M. Quinn, 20, Plainfield, was westbound on U.S. 40 in a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta.

Quinn advised Gibbons that a green Dodge Dakota extended cab truck pulled away from the stopsign at County Road 200 South and U.S. 40, attempting to cross over into the westbound lane, directly in the path of her vehicle.

The truck failed to yield the right of way, and although Quinn attempted to miss the vehicle, she was unsuccessful.

Gibbons said Quinn's vehicle made impact with the side of the truck. However, the vehicle left the scene eastbound toward Hendricks County.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
