Paying It Forward

Tuesday, April 22, 2014

The Tzouanakis Intermediate School third-grade class of teacher Carmen Cross recently undertook a project titled "Pay It Forward." The project was connected with a social studies unit on doing things for the common good, volunteering and simply doing things that touch other peoples' lives. Students were asked to bring in gently used or new games, toys and stuffed animals to donate to the Beyond Homeless shelter. The children thought the shelter was a great place to donate to since it just recently reopened and they loved the idea of donating toys to other children who were in need, Cross said. Over a two-week period the class collected two boxes full of items to donate. Students participating include (front, from left) Brian Stewart, Rance Glassburn, Nicole Williams, Bryleigh Evans, Lyric Chambers, Tyler Collisi, (middle row, from left) Adaline Smith, Jace Bailey, Preston Patterson, Jasie Espinoza, Makenzie Epley, Trenton Snow, (back from left) Gillian Jones, Chris Elrod, Ian Petiniot, Broc Moore, Wade Hamilton, D'Mentia Hammaker, Keirsten Clark and Ryan Beauchamp.
