Mountain Man Rendezvous set for this weekend

BRIDGETON -- The 22nd annual Mountain Man Rendezvous is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Visitors can enjoy a taste of authentic pre-1840s living in a historic setting by walking through the Mountain Man encampment complete with trading posts and pioneer goods for sale.

A live black-powder muzzleloader shooting exhibition is slated along with a primitive bow shoot, a canoe race on Raccoon Creek and demonstrations of knife and tomahawk throwing.

Pioneer crafters will be at work with authentic old-time activities for children.

Meanwhile, the Bridgeton Volunteer Fire Department will host a fish fry Saturday from 2-7 p.m. at the new firehouse.

At the Bridgeton Grist Mill visitors can see a 1800s corn-grinding demonstration and try some fresh stone-ground Parke County products.

Bridgeton is located in southern Parke County, nine miles south of Rockville off State Road 59.
