Farmers Market set to open downtown Saturday morning
On Saturday, May 3 the Greencastle Farmers' Market will open its sixth season downtown on the courthouse square.
The market opens at 8 a.m. and runs until noon.
After a long, hard winter and cool, wet spring, organizers don't expect a lot of produce during the first weeks, but vendors will be bringing locally produced eggs, meats, jams, a variety of baked goods and assorted handmade crafts.
Guitarist and singer Brittany Brumfield will entertain market-goers starting around 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, patrons young and old are invited to unleash their inner artists, decorating "flower boxes" for Main Street Greencastle's "Occupy Downtown Storefront Decorating Contest."
The market will operate from 8 a.m. until noon every Saturday through Oct. 25.
