Betty Lou Tanner, 84, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at her home in Greencastle.

Betty was born on Sept. 22, 1929 to the late John and Maggie (Bright) McCune in Maxwell, Ind.

She married Chester Tanner, who preceded her in death.

She retired from the Hancock County Courthouse. In the last few years Betty moved to Greencastle to live closer to her family.

Betty was a member of the VFW Post 2693 and American Legion Post 119 in Greenfield.

She enjoyed reading, embroidery and watching the birds out her window.

She is survived by one daughter, Tina (Scott) Dismukes of Greencastle; three grandchildren, Ryan Mullins of Spencer, Christina (Brad) Rumley of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Victoria Mullins of Greencastle; four great-grandchildren, Jayden, Rylan, Liam and Lucas.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and three sisters.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday May 7 at Park Cemetery, 621 S. State St., Greenfield. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the cemetery.
