Andrea Kay Bolyard McConahay Hamilton, 71, of Plainfield, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014 at home surrounded by her daughters and many other family members.

She battled cancer for more than 30 years and remains an inspiration for all who knew her.

She was born on April 15, 1943 in Noble County, Ind., and was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School.

While raising and caring for her family, she worked for the State of Indiana for more than three decades, retiring in 2013 as an auditor for the Department of Revenue.

She delighted in the company of friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sterling and Lois Caroline (Wigent) Bolyard and brother, Gary Bolyard.

Survivors include daughters Michelle Moore (Kevin), Tamara Pursell (Allen) and Natalie McConahay (fiancé John); 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; brothers Fred Bolyard (Bonnie), Rick Bolyard (Pam), Clifton Bolyard (Cindy), Richard Marlow; sisters Nancy Warren (Bill), Virginia Massey (Dwight) and Margaret Ann Hunt (Jerry); and many nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Andrea modeled how to live as a Christian.

She was once recognized as the Plainfield Volunteer of the Year for her efforts in organizing an annual Joy Prom for persons with special needs.

Over her life she was an active member in several churches where she lived and faithfully demonstrated caring for others even while struggling with her own illness.

Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church of Plainfield on Thursday, May 15, 6-9 p.m. with services to be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 16 at First Baptist Church of Plainfield.
