Playhouse auditions Sunday, Monday for 'Steel Magnolias'

Director Brad Sandy will have two sessions of auditions for the Putnam County Playhouse production of "Steel Magnolias."

The first session will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18. The second session will be Monday, May 19 at 7 p.m. Both sessions will be in the rehearsal center of the Hazel Day Longden Theatre on Round Barn Road.

The play will be produced July 10-12 and July 16-19. Corporate sponsor for "Steel Magnolias" is Rossok & Co.-Pekin Insurance.

There are roles for six women. There are no men's roles or roles for children.

The characters include Truvy, the owner of a small-town beauty salon; Shelby, a young woman who becomes a wife and mother; M'Lynn, her mother; Annelle, a shy employee of the salon; Clairee, the widow of the town mayor; and Ouiser, an older woman with a mind of her own.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script.
