Senior night at Greencastle sees tough loss for tennis

On senior night in Greencastle, the Lady Tiger Cubs' tennis team lost a heartbreaker 3-2 to West Vigo on Monday.

Honored seniors included Rosio Gomez, Elise Merrell, Courtney Smallwood, and Melody White.

The Lady Tiger Cubs started the match off well, with Bailey Zapp winning the No. 3 singles match 6-2, 6-1. No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches went to West Vigo.

Abbie Harms played at No. 1, dropping her match in straight sets; 6-1, 6-1. Rosemary Hurst lost at No. 2 singles for the Lady Tiger Cubs; 6-1, 6-0.

The new No. 2 doubles team of Rachel Chadd and Lydia Trout was victorious for Greencastle, winning 6-4, 6-4.

With the last point of the match falling on the No.1 double match-up, the Lady Tiger Cubs lost a hard fought three set match; 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

The Lady Tiger Cubs junior varsity squad fared much better on Monday night; winning 4-1. Madison Trout and Bailey Hudson both won their singles matches, at No.1 and No. 2 singles respectively.

Kate Anderson lost her match at No. 3 singles for Greencastle, 8-2. The No. 1 doubles team of Kaylea Torr and Rosio Gomez played well with an 8-5 victory and the No. 2 doubles team of Alex Weliever and Elise Merrell were victorious with a pro-set score of 8-4.
