Gerald E. Clark, age 71, of Centerville, died Friday, May 23, 2014 at his home.

Born March 11, 1943 in Putnam County to Roy Albert and Mary Elizabeth Dunn Clark, Gerald was a 1963 graduate of Cloverdale High School.

From 1965 to 1967, he served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Sennet (SS-408). Gerald was a cement finisher. He was a member of the American Legion Post 281 in Cloverdale for 24 years.

He had lived in the Centerville community for the last 45 years. Gerald was a member of the Cement Finishers Union and Labor Union 1112. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching the grandsons play sports.

Survivors include his wife, LaDonna Thompson Clark to whom he was married on Nov. 1, 1969; daughter Melinda S. (Brian) Kelly of Liberty; son James G. Clark of Centerville; grandsons Dustin Grimes, Christopher Kelly, Brandon Kelly, Steven Clark and Shaun Clark; sister Carol (Robert) Blue; brother Steven (Barbra) Clark; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Virginia Baldwin, Rosittea Cummings, Lula Cox, Jouliet Lawson, Jerry June Clark and Louise Mager; and brothers William, Roy Jr. and Robert Keith Clark.

A memorial service will be announced later. Burial will be in Cloverdale.

Arrangements are being handled by Mills Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., Centerville.
