Officer Nick Eastham reported that the one-vehicle accident occurred at 11:58 p.m. May 24 when Christopher B. Taylor, driving a 2000 Chevrolet 2500 truck owned by Donnie Trumbo, Greencastle, struck a support column at the front of the supermarket.

Taylor told police he was upset after reportedly being refused a purchase of wine coolers.

In leaving the parking lot, he then reportedly accelerated at a high rate of speed and the accelerator pedal stuck to the floor mat, causing Taylor to lose control of the vehicle and hit the support column. The accident also damaged several items on display outside the store.

Total damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.
