Alfred Miller Green Sr., 79, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014.

Alfred was born Oct. 2, 1934 in Rosebud, Texas, one of four children, to Francis Lucille Miller and Ira Guy Green.

Mr. Green was a retired staff sergeant of the U.S. Air Force. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot and gunner. He was later stationed in San Antonio as a military policeman.

Beloved husband of Amy G. Green, they were married 53 years before she passed away June 27, 2007.

He was affectionately known as "Papa" to most who knew him.

Survivors include six children, Butch Green and wife, Virginia of Greencastle, Tim Green of Weatherford, Kenneth Green and wife Rita of Weatherford, Marie Knowles and husband Ray of Weatherford, Amy Jeannette Mercer and husband, Dale of Brownwood, Texas, and Dametria Green and Ryan Callaway of Austin; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Foy L. Green and wife, Maxine of Belton, Texas; two sisters, Margarite Bolen and husband, Gene (deceased) of Garden Grove, Calif., and Dottie Phillips and husband, Charles (deceased) of Nebraska, and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
