Gerald E. Clark, 71, of Centerville, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at his home.

Born March 11, 1943, in Putnam County to Roy Albert and Mary Elizabeth Dunn Clark, Gerald was a 1963 graduate of Cloverdale High School.

From 1965 to1967, he served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Sennet (SS-408). Gerald was a cement finisher. He was a member of the American Legion Post 281 in Cloverdale for 24 years. He had lived in this community for the last 45 years. Gerald was a member of the Cement Finishers Union and Labor Union 1112. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching the grandsons play sports.

Survivors include his wife, LaDonna Thompson Clark, to whom he was married on November 1, 1969; daughter Melinda S. (Brian) Kelly of Liberty; son James G. Clark of Centerville; grandsons Dustin Grimes, Christopher Kelly, Brandon Kelly, Steven Clark and Shaun Clark; sister Carol (Robert) Blue; brother Steven (Barbra) Clark; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Virginia Baldwin, Rosittea Cummings, Lula Cox, Jouliet Lawson, Jerry June Clark and Louise Mager; and brothers William, Roy Jr. and Robert Keith Clark.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 14 at the American Legion, 501 South Main St., Cloverdale. Burial will be in Cloverdale.

Arrangements are being handled by Mills Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., Centerville.
