County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Cary Williams Buchannan, 40, Cloverdale, was arrested for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction and probation violation.

At 4:15 p.m. Timothy Lee Miller, 44, Greencastle, was charged with parole violation.

At 11:20 p.m. Taylor Lee Cooper, 23, Reelsville, was booked in for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction, illegal possession of a firearm and driving with a suspended license.

* At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Anthony Allen Williams, 30, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for possession of marijuana and false informing.

* At 2:56 a.m. on Sunday, Margaret Ann Lannan, 71, Bettendorf, Iowa, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and operating per se.

At 11:15 a.m. William Jordan Clements, 18, Fillmore, was charged with criminal recklessness.

* At 2:07 a.m. on Monday, Angela Lynne Harris, 37, Greencastle, was arrested for battery and probation violation.

At 8:45 a.m. James Jason Campbell, 35, Cloverdale, was booked in for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction and probation violation.

Sheriff's Dept.

* At 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, Adam McElwee, 30, Bainbridge, was backing his 2006 Hyundai Sonata out of a parking space at the North Putnam Family Health Care facility and backed into a car parked in a space across the lot.

Lt. Donnie Pettit advised that upon making contact with McElwee via cell phone he said that he was unaware he had struck the 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier owned by Herbert C. Walters, Bainbridge.

However, Walters advised he was in the waiting room at the time and witnessed McElwee back into his vehicle.

Damage was estimated at under $1,001.

* At 3:05 p.m. on Friday, May 23, Gabriel J. Villigran, 24, Indy, was traveling east on County Road 100 North just west of County Road 875 East.

Villigran advised Pettit that he had veered his 2015 Freight Trailer owned by Old Dominian Freight, to the right for an oncoming semi when he ran off the south shoulder of the road into a ditch resulting in both lanes being blocked.

Damage was estimated at less than $1,001.

* At 6:12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, Jayson B. Bolinger, 28, Brazil, was parking a Road Tech Asphalt Machine at 6551 N. U.S. 231.

Bolinger advised Deputy Mike Downing that he didn't see the 2007 Ford Ranger parked behind the machine resulting in the bucket of the machine striking and breaking the passenger taillight of the vehicle owned by the Indiana Department of Administration.

Damage was estimated at less than $1,001.

* At 6 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, Dustin R. Scobee, 27, Brazil, was eastbound on U.S. 36 just west of County Road 500 North.

Scobee advised Pettit that a deer had entered the roadway and he was unable to avoid a collision with his 2010 Hyundai Elentra.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 11:38 a.m. on Friday, Daniel A. Bowen, 26, Plainfield, advised Pettit that he eastbound on State Road 240 when a deer ran in front of his 2007 Chevrolet Impala and was unable to avoid it.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

At 5:05 p.m., Steven D. Gregory, 55, Greencastle was following Gabrielle A. Reinoehl, 28, Reelsville, on County Road 350 South at the intersection of U.S. 231.

Gregory advised Pettit that Reinoehl started to pull out onto U.S. 231 and then suddenly stopped his 2005 Chrysler Town and Country, causing him to rear end the Reinoehl van with his 2010 Ford F350.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 8:10 p.m. on Monday, John L. Johnson, 60, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 300 North in a 1986 Dodge Ram when he apparently fell asleep.

Johnson told Lt. Gregg Slover he woke up on impact with the guardrail end. The guardrail went through the grill of the truck, struck the engine and came out between the hood and the windshield.

An open case of beer was in the bed of the truck, along with a cooler. Johnson admitted to drinking earlier in the evening.

Johnson tested at .17 blood-alcohol content on the portable breath test. He refused medical treatment, but was taken to Putnam County Hospital for a blood draw, on which he tested .14 BAC.

After release from the hospital, he was booked into the Putnam County Jail at 10:50 p.m. on charges of operating while intoxicated.

* At 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Amilla L. Nally, 19, Cloverdale, was southbound on County Road 325 West near the Putnam/Owen county line when a deer entered the road.

She told Lt. Slover she was unable to avoid the animal.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Police

Three recent traffic citations were issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, Mark Fox, 42, Reelsville, was ticketed by Reserve Officer Jes Seipel at South Jackson Street and Veterans Memorial Highway for having an expired license plate (April 28).

-- At 9:21 p.m. Monday, Jason Duncan, 31, Greencastle, received two citations from Officer Kyle Lee when he was stopped at County Road 50 South and CR 250 East. Duncan was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license and for having an expired license plate (April 14).

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has been dispatched several times and provided one medical assist this week.

* At 8:32 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, GFD was called to 2200 E. SR 240 in response to a fire alarm. Upon arrival no fire was found.

* At 2:52 p.m. on Monday, June 9, GFD responded to an unauthorized burn at 500 Rockville Rd.

* At 7:15 p.m. on Monday, June 9, GFD was dispatched to 107 W. Hanna St. to investigate a fire alarm. The alarm was triggered due to cooking.

* At 8:40 p.m. on Monday, June 9, GFD was called to South CR 300 West to perform an accident cleanup.

* At 11:10 p.m. on Monday, June 9, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 107 W. Hanna St., the alarm had been triggered from smoking indoors.

* At 8:33 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, GFD was dispatched to the Putnam County Hospital at 1542 Bloomington St. to investigate an alarm malfunction.
