CRAWFORDSVILLE -- Putnam County drivers are advised that the northbound lanes on the U.S. 231 bridge over Sugar Creek in Montgomery County will be closed this Friday evening through next Monday morning.

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced repair work will close the bridge beginning at 6 a.m. Friday, June 20. It is scheduled to reopen on Monday, June 23 at 6 a.m.

The contractor will be pouring the bridge deck approaches along with a new surface in the driving lane on the northbound bridge.

Traffic will be detoured west onto U.S. 136 (Market Street) then north over Lafayette Avenue and back to U.S. 231 in Crawfordsville.

Schutt-Lookabill Co. was awarded the $1.4 million bridge deck overlay project on U.S. 231. Work is scheduled for completion on Aug. 31.

INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone.
