FRANKLIN -- Greencastle senior Alec Davis will head into Wednesday's second round of the IHSAA State Golf Finals in a tie for 22nd place after posting a four-over round of 76 Tuesday.

The round started inauspiciously for Davis after straining his neck on the opening tee and was +4 on the day after a pair of double bogeys on the fourth and fifth holes due to penalty strokes.

Davis managed to play even par after that point, recording two birdies and two bogeys. Davis trails co-leaders Dylan Meyer of Evansville Central and Michael VanDeventer of Columbus North by six strokes after both came in at 70.

The Tiger Cub senior will tee off at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.
