County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 10:20 a.m. on Friday, Paul Andrew Brown, 47, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

At 11:10 a.m., Michael William Burnell, 46, Lebanon, Ohio, was arrested for public intoxication.

* At 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, David Lee Walters, 20, Greencastle, was arrested for operating while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and being a minor in consumption.

* At 3:27 a.m. on, Sunday, Patricia Maxine Dougherty, 41, Fillmore, was arrested for domestic battery.

* At 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Zachary Lee Benassi, 21, was charged with operating a vehicle when never having received a license.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

Misha Kay Romandine, 53, Greencastle, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Sunday after reportedly trying to steal a printer, valued at $180, from the Electronics Department at Walmart.

Romandine was taken into custody by Officer Kyle Lee outside an Avenue F residence after reportedly resisting law enforcement with her vehicle.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Romandine was charged with resisting law enforcement and theft.

* At 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Daniel Dreyer II, 40, Greencastle, was arrested by Sgt. Charles Inman at a Judson Court apartment on a Wisconsin warrant for two counts of non-support of a dependent child.

* At 9:02 p.m. Friday, Diamante Ponce Valenzuela, 29, Bainbridge, was arrested by Officer Lee at Vine and Walnut streets for battery, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Valenzuela registered a .218 blood-alcohol content under portable breathalyzer testing.

Sheriff's Dept.

* At 12:20 a.m. on Friday, Brittney M. Ken-drick, 29, Greencastle, was northbound on U.S. 231 just south of County Road 350 North.

Kendrick advised Deputy Ronnie Campbell that a truck with bright lights entered her traffic lane, which resulted in Kendrick's 2005 Mazda 6 striking a guardrail to avoid a crash.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

At 12:09 p.m., Corbin C. Wittig, 22, Brownsburg, was southbound on U.S. 231 just south of County Road 350 North.

Campbell stated that for unknown reasons Wittig he didn't brake in time, hitting the back of a car driven Timothy R. Scobee, 56, Greencastle.

Scobee advised Campbell he was slowing his 1999 Audi A4 to turn into a driveway.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

At 4:41 p.m., Brian K. Letourneau, 44, Carbon, was eastbound on County Road 1225 South near County Road 550 West.

Letourneau told Campbell he lost his bakes and tried to make a left turn at a high rate of speed, causing the 1996 Volvo, owned by Black Diamond LLC, Greencastle, to turn on its passenger side into a ditch.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

At 6:25 p.m., Anthony N. Petrarca, 27, Dana, was northbound on U.S. 231 near County Road 350 North.

Petrarca told Deputy Phillip Troyer there was a truck hauling lawn care equipment stopped northbound on U.S. 231, attempting to turn west on County Road 350 North.

Petrarca added that the passenger car in front of him went around the truck as the truck was turning westbound. He further stated that when he started to move his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado northbound when Linda J. Coulter, 71, Bainbridge, struck him in the rear of his vehicle.

Coulter stated that she was traveling northbound on U.S. 231 when she came upon Petrarca slowed or stopped and rear-ended the vehicle after hitting the brakes to avoid a collision.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

At 10:27 p.m., Matthew McCammon, 34, Coatesville, was driving northbound on County Road 850 East.

McCammon advised Reserve Officer Dena Delacruz that a deer ran out in front of his 2012 Chevrolet Impala.

He added that he struck the deer and swerved off the road, which resulted in him hitting a tree head on.

Delacruz advised that McCammon had a slight cut on his hand when the airbag deployed.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 4:10 a.m. on Saturday, Amanda E. Jones, 17, Camby, was southbound on State Road 243 near Lieber State Park when a deer jumped into her path.

Jones advised Deputy Kyle Gibbons she swerved her 2010 Hyundai Elantra to miss the deer, which caused her to lose control and travel into a ditch and overturn.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

At 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, Karen J. Hood, 63, Greencastle, was traveling east on U.S. 40 in a 2002 Chevrolet Tracker.

Hood advised Reserve Officer Ken Grundlock that she turned left, crossing the westbound lane of U.S. 40 into the path of Cheryl L. Clark, 56, Newberry.

Hood stated that she didn't see Clark's 2006 Chevrolet Impala, which was headed west on U.S. 40.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

At 4:36 p.m., Christopher R. Allee, 26, Brazil, was eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 1997 Geo Prizm.

Allee told Grundlock he turned north at the intersection of U.S. 40 West and County Road 445 West, striking Michael R. Morris, 43, Terre Haute in the driver's side area of the left rear.

Allee said when he turned, his attention was distracted and that he did not see Morris' 2004 Dodge Ram. Meanwhile, Morris said he was going straight and could not avoid a collision.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 1:44 a.m. on Sunday, Carla K. Cain, 30, Jamestown, was eastbound on U.S. 36 when a deer jumped into her path near County Road 475 East.

Cain advised Troyer that she attempted to swerve her 2000 Chevrolet Blazer to miss the animal, but ran off the road into a ditch.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
