CLOVERDALE -- An Indianapolis man was arrested Tuesday after a traffic stop revealed he was in possession of several counterfeit credit/gift cards.

At 11:53 a.m., Indiana State Police Trooper Yan Dravigne was patrolling Interstate 70 westbound near the 39-mile marker, when he stopped a 2007 Chevrolet Impala for a license plate violation.

During the stop, the male driver produced another person's driver's license as his, was very nervous and was untruthful in his conversations. The driver did not have a valid driver's license under his name.

Investigation revealed him to be 20-year-old Halton Kai.

Dravigne received consent to search the vehicle and inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle were several counterfeit credit/gift cards.

Kai was taken into custody and transported to the Putnam County Jail, booked in on preliminary charges of Class C felony forgery, D felony counterfeiting, A misdemeanor driving with a suspended license and A misdemeanor false informing.

  • Looks like most of them came from the same Vendor .. hope they put this guy away for a while. I'm tired of paying higher prices for thieves.

  • Hmmm. I'm not sure about this...it seems to me they are just(prepaid) cards.......im not sure how they are not right...this whole thing seem sketchy..im sure everyone knows the difference between prepay and credit cards..right..fellas don't jump to conclusions.

  • What difference does it make if they were "just(prepaid) cards"? They were apparently stolen from some person or company. Like Emmes said, we all pay higher prices & fees to offset costs from thieves.
