Beatles music gets Brazil Band treatment Sunday

BRAZIL -- The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, presents "The Beatles: A Royal Decree" rain or shine on Sunday, June 22 in Forest Park at Brazil.

The free concert is set to begin at 8 p.m.

In recognition of The Beatles' 1964 appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show," the BCB will perform "Beatles: Love" arranged by Jay Bocock of "Because," "Drive My Car", "What You're Doing," "The Word," "Eleanor Rigby," "Hey Jude" and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."

Director Huber was inspired by a recent trip to Liverpool with his wife Melanie and son John where they took The Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour and saw the childhood homes of Ringo, George, Paul and John plus many sites made famous by The Beatles.

Also, by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, "Michelle," arranged by Arthur Wilkinson and another Liverpool connection, "Titanic" arranged by Calvin Custer, home to the White Star Line and crew of the ill-fated voyage.

Trombonist Norman Hanson will perform in Arthur Pryor's "Blue Bells of Scotland."

The BCB also will perform "Royal Decree" by English, "Irish Songs" by Smith, "Loch Lomond" by Ticheli, "Shepherd's Hey" by Grainger, "The Vedette" by Alford and "The Volunteers" by Sousa.
