Harold Richard Acton, 75, Crawfordsville, died peacefully at 8:53 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014 in his residence, surrounded by family and friends.

He was under the care of Season's Hospice, whose love and care the entire family is grateful for, especially from his special nurse, Sandy.

He was born May 9, 1939 to Marshall and Myrtle Acton, both of whom preceded him in death.

He married his wife of 52 years, Sharon Louise Reiter, formerly of Roachdale, on Sept. 30, 1961, and she survives.

Mr. Acton retired in 2001 as a supervisor with Raybestos where he worked for 37 years.

After retirement, Harold enjoyed working as a Yellow Cap at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and at the Covered Bridge Festival.

Harold lived a full and active life. His favorite activities included golfing (especially with his senior group), fishing year round, listening to his purple martins sings, cheering on Indiana's sports teams and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.

His sense of humor, good nature and ability to laugh with and love those around him will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Penny (Tommy) Deedrick, Crawfordsville, and Lisa Race, Martinsville; sisters Bernice (Will) Adams, Katherine Howard, Lois Schaffer and Linda East, all of Indianapolis; brother Robert (Maria) Acton, Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren Nick Race, Calli (Richard) Mayotte, Sydney Race and Paige Deedrick; and great-grandson Cooper Townsend.
