Inaugural Christfest Christian Music Festival

Monday, July 7, 2014

Putnam County resident Casey Carter remembers growing up in Greencastle at a time when a trip to Indianapolis or Terre Haute was required to attend large, family friendly events.

Carter and his wife Di intend to change that with the inaugural Christfest Christian music festival on July 12 at DePauw's Green Center Auditorium.

The idea for the event began at a women's conference in Terre Haute and is a response to the question: What are you doing for your community?

"We saw an opportunity to provide quality entertainment for Putnam County and surrounding counties," coordinator Di Carter said.

While the event is centered around Christian music and family-oriented entertainment, the festival is meant to be inclusive of all denominations, former believers and those who do not practice Christianity.

This year will mark the first inception of the event that the Carters hope will become a dynamic, growing event held in Greencastle each summer.

Christfest has been established as a non-profit organization that operates on donations and business sponsorship.

For its inaugural concert series, Christfest will feature five bands and will span musical genres from country and hip-hop to alternative, soul and rock.

Performers will include Building Nations, Lexi Elisha, Mark 209 and Bobbie Lancaster.

General admission tickets for Christfest are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12 and free for children under the age of five and can be purchased online at www.christfestpc.com.

Persons with questions about the event may contact Di Carter via phone at 314-471-1282, by email at christfestpc@gmail.com or via the Christfest website.
