County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Emmanuel Dareon Jones, 21, Terre Haute, was charged with a probation violation.

At 4:30 p.m., Jeremy Andrew Washington, 21, Greencastle, was arrested for failure to appear.

* At 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Patrick Richard O'Day, 27, Fallon, N.V., was arrested for nonsupport of a dependent.

At 8:45 a.m., Alexandra Michelle Cooper, 21, Indianapolis, was charged with a probation violation.

At 5:55 p.m., John David Harlan, 47, Brazil, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

At 8:07 p.m., Michael Shane Witt, 35, Cloverdale, was arrested on a court order.

At 11:03 p.m., Christopher Lee Pate, 30, Greencastle, was arrested for invasion of privacy, sexual misconduct with a minor, bond revocation and resisting law enforcement.

* At 12:22 a.m. on Thursday, Lyndsey Rene Cullison, 26, was arrested for assisting a criminal and false informing.

Sheriff's Dept.

* At 8:48 p.m. on Friday, Brittany A. Williamson, 27, Indianapolis, was traveling northbound no County Road 600 West just south of U.S. 31.

Williamson advised Deputy Ronnie Campbell that an older Chevy pickup truck was in her lane, causing her to swerve over and connect with the concrete end of a bridge.

The Chevy truck did not stop and was no located.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Police

Five recent traffic citations were issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 11:12 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, Danielle Coglan, 35, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Kyle Lee on Indianapolis Road for having an expired license plate (May 28).

At 11:50 p.m., Cheryl Woodall, 40, Greencastle, was cited by Reserve Officer David Clodfelter on Indianapolis Road driving on a suspended license.

-- At 3:52 a.m. on Sunday, Bradley Harring, 34, Terre Haute, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham for speeding on South Bloomington Street. He was cited for 55 mph in a 30-mph zone.

-- At 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Michael Ryan Runnells, 29, Cloverdale, was ticketed by Officer Matt Huffman for driving with a suspended license on Zinc Mill Road at South Street.

-- At 1:13 a.m. on Thursday, Meghan Hofmann, 24, Brazil, was cited by Officer Nick Eastham for speeding on Bloomington Street. She was ticketed for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone.

One person was issued a summons on Thursday, July 3.

-- At 12:15 p.m., Phillip Haugh, 34, Indianapolis, was issued a summons for possession of marijuana by Cpt. Mike Hanlon on Arlington Street.

Two recent traffic accidents were investigated by City Police officers on Monday.

-- At 1:22 p.m., a two-vehicle mishap occurred on Franklin Street and Paradise Lane.

Officer Darrell Bunten reported that Robert Irwin, 72, Phoenix, Ariz., was traveling east on Franklin Street in a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado when a 1990 Honda motorcycle driven by David Johnson, 19, Indianapolis, passed him at a high rate of speed.

With Johnson not seeing an oncoming vehicle in the westbound lane, would have hit Irwin's truck head on. However, Johnson swerved to the right Irwin striking the drivers side right read quarter panel area, busting the tire on the truck.

As a result of hitting Irwin's truck, Johnson was thrown from the motorcycle and across the roadway before coming to a rest.

Johnson advised Bunten that he felt fine from the crash, but he felt ill like something wasn't right with his brain before he accident. Johnson added that it caused him to sort of pass out while driving that motorcycle, causing his hand to get stuck on the throttle.

Irwin was ticketed for false and fictitious registration; while Johnson was ticketed for an expired license plate and a motorcycle learners permit violation for not wearing a helmet.

Officer Ed Wilson and Capt. Mike Hanlon assisted at the scene.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

-- At 3:29 p.m., a two-vehicle accident occurred on Bloomington and Washington streets.

Cpt. Mike Hanlon reported that Michael Erb, 38, Tolono, Ill., was traveling north on Bloomington Street in a 2012 GMC Sierra approaching the stoplight at Washington Street when Jina Hedge, 39, Poland, hit him from behind with her 1998 Dodge Durango.

Hedge advised Hanlon that Erb was stopped for the red light and as she stepped on the brake her vehicle began to slide on the wet pavement resulting in the collision.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to two medical assists and numerous dispatches.

* At 2:33 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, GFD was called to 1626 N. Hwy 231 to remove a tree that had blown into the road.

* At 2:38 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, GFD removed a tree that had been downed from severe weather at the intersection of College Ave. and Park St.

* At 3:49 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, GFD was dispatched to 4021 S. C.R. 150 W. to investigate a downed tree that had landed on a propane tank.

* At 12:02 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, GFD responded to a house fire at 3282 W. Ivanwald Drive.

* At 7:39 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, GFD was called to a fire alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave, no fire was found.

* At 6:07 p.m. Friday, July 4, GFD responded a motor vehicle accident at 263 W. C.R. 250 S., GFD provided debris removal.

* At 10:47 p.m. Friday, July 4, GFD was dispatched to an unauthorized burn at 104 South Street, upon investigation GFD allowed the burn to take place.

* At 12:38 a.m. Sunday, July 6, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 109 W. Hanna St., no fire was detected.

* At 1:24 a.m. Monday, July 7, GFD responded a motor vehicle accident between a motorcycle and a pickup truck at the intersection of East Franklin Street and Paradise Lane, GFD provided debris and hazard removal.
