County Jail

Three people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 7:33 a.m. on Friday, Kathryn Leigh Rodas, 53, Cloverdale, was arrested for domestic battery.

* At 2:20 p.m. Monday, Joshua Nathan Wheeler, 33, Brazil, was charged with probation violation.

At 4:59 p.m. Eric James Stewart, 34, no city listed, was booked in for nonsupport of a dependent.

Sheriff's Department

* At 12:55 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, Sammantha J. Tincher, 27, Fillmore, was westbound on County Road 300 North in a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. Guy M. Marlow, 21, Greencastle, was approaching eastbound on a 2002 Honda Shadow Sabre motorcycle.

Tincher told Lt. Donnie Pettit her attention was diverted inside the vehicle just prior to turning into her driveway. She failed to see Marlow's motorcycle and turned in front of it.

Marlow could not avoid the collision and his motorcycle hit the passenger side rear fender of Tincher's SUV.

Samantha Mayhew, 21, Poland, a passenger on Marlow's motorcycle, was ejected and her right hand was run over by Tincher's rear passenger tire. Mayhew had a cell phone in her hand that was destroyed.

Marlow and Mayhew were treated by Operation Life for abrasions.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 10:23 a.m. on Friday, Quita Barger, 54, Bainbridge, was stopped for construction traffic on U.S. 231 near County Road 25 South when her 2001 Dodge Ram was struck from behind by Skylar Surber, 20, Roachdale.

Surber advised Sgt. Virgil Lanning that he was southbound and looked away from the road and when he looked back it was too late to avoid a collision with Barger's 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 11:13 p.m. on Saturday, David M. Marty, 59, Rockville, was traveling westbound on U.S. 36 approaching Bainbridge.

Marty advised Deputy Mike Downing that due to the dark conditions he was unable to see the tree that had fallen across the road, resulting in his 2005 Dodge Caravan hitting the tree causing damage to the front and undercarriage.

Floyd Township Fire Department was dispatched to the scene to clean up the tree.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 3:02 a.m., Bryan R. Hassler, 36, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 400 West when he fell asleep and ran his 2006 Pontiac G6 off the road.

Downing stated the road makes a hard right turn where Hassler's vehicle left the road resulting it in striking a power pole guide wire, running through a ditch and coming to rest back on the road.

Hassler declined medical attention.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 9:17 p.m., Nicole C. Izaguirre, 41, Cloverdale, was southbound on U.S. 231 at approximately County Road 1200 South when the vehicle in front of her signaled to turn right onto County Road 1200 South.

Izaguirre advised Deputy Mike Downing that she was unable to stop her 2015 Jeep Liberty and hit Brittney A. Scott, 19, Quincy, on the driver's side of her 2001 Kia Sportage, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway.

Scott stated that she signaled to turn left onto County Road 1200 South and was hit by Izaguirre, doing her best to avoid hitting a power pole.

Both vehicles left the east side of U.S. 231, just south of the intersection. Izaguirre hit a concrete culvert then a power pole guide wire coming to rest in the field against the power pole facing west. Meanwhile, Scott came to rest in the field facing south east and was extricated from her vehicle and transported to Putnam County Hospital.

According to witnesses, Izaguirre passed their vehicle and did not see Scott turning left.

Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene to extricate Scott. Operation Life was dispatched to the scene to attend to the medical needs of all involved.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 4:15 p.m. on Monday, Brandon Query, 27, Greencastle, was southbound on Count Road 490 West, south of U.S. 36 in a 2006 Mazda 3.

Query told Pettit a tree fell in front of him in the road and he was unable to avoid it.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

City Police

One traffic citation was issued by City Police this weekend.

-- At 7:54 p.m. on Sunday, Mikala Jacobson, 20, Cloverdale, was arrested by Officer Kyle Lee for driving on a suspended license on Indianapolis Road near Jedson.

One accident was investigated by City Police this weekend.

-- At 4:06 p.m. on Friday, a two-vehicle mishap occurred on North Jackson Street near Liberty Street.

Officer Darrel Bunten reported that Erika Davies, 20, Greencastle, was stopped to turn right onto Liberty Street in a 2005 Nissan Centra. Meanwhile, a semi-truck was exiting Liberty Street onto Jackson Street making her turn non-negotiable causing her to stop, which resulted in Michael Wilkinson, 52, Crawfordsville rear ending her.

Wilkinson advised Bunten that he was south on Jackson Street and simply did not see Davies and rear-ended her with his 2003 Yamaha motorcycle.

Damage was estimated at $1,025.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to one medical assist and have been dispatched to numerous incidents.

* At 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 12, GFD responded to a fire alarmat 107 W. Hanna St., no fire was discovered.

* At 12:02 a.m. Sunday, July 13, GFD was called to 750 S. Fillmore Rd. to extinguish a dumpster fire. The fire was started from hot materials being thrown away in the dumpster.

* At 8:02 a.m. Monday, July 14, GFD was dispatched to an odor investigation at 620 Tennessee St., upond arrival GFD found no cause for the odor.

* At 1:03 p.m. Monday, July 14, GFD was sent to cover the Cloverdale Fire Department while CFD was responding to a motor vehicle accident. While covering for CFD, GFD was dispatched to several incidents including a general clean up call for a motor vehicle accident at 2:03 p.m. and at 3 p.m. they responded to a second motor vehicle accident with an entrapped person.

* At 8:35 p.m. and again at 9:48 p.m. Monday, July 14, GFD was called to 330 Greenwood Ave. to investigate a fire alarm, no fire was found, alarms were triggered due to cooking.
