When the Cross Country Racing Series makes its stop in Greencastle it'll be featuring some Putnam County locals with a championship itch.

The Big Four Landing is a four-wheeler and motor race that take place on July 19 and 20. The race is held at 2092 S. County Rd. 500 West and is the sixth round out of 10 in the race schedule.

Mark Anderson is a Cloverdale native on Top Gun a racing team that has enjoyed some recent successes in the series. Anderson's father Michael is the crew chief.

"We got about seven or eight guys on (the Top Gun Racing team)" Anderson said. "They all compete. My little brother (Danger), he runs for the juniors. He is leading in points right now. He's on fire. With everybody that's in Top Gun Racing, it's like a family. We're all pretty good."

This is the sixth race in the series and while the tournament will be spread out over the coming months the Top Gun team will be racing as far as Iowa to keep its skills in tip top shape.

"Finishing the race is the key. Obviously we would love to have a win," Anderson said. "I've got some pretty good people on the program this year. I feel that I've got the best equipment that I could possibly have. I'm confident in my dad as a crew chief and I'm pretty confident in my whole team really."

The team will be looking for a victory this weekend and will want to use that to fuel its four-wheelers all the way to championship lane.

"Starts is the big thing," Anderson said. "My brother and I both have exceptionally good starts, especially my brother. But I think we'll be all right."
