Members of the Putnam County 4-H Horse and Pony Judging Team recently participated in the 2014 Youth World Championship Judging Contest co-hosted by the American Junior Paint Horse Association and the Appaloosa Horse Club, and presented by Hart Trailers.

The contest was held June 29 at the Will Rogers Memorial Complex in Fort Worth, Texas. Team members included Adie Clifford, Bailey Goff, Taylor Hicks and Megan Arnold.

The team earned a top-20 finish overall, top-20 finish in the reasons category and placed fourth among the participating 4-H clubs.

"Preparing for competition requires a huge commitment from participants, attending practices that take place on a weekly basis for months," team coach Lisa Pitts said.

"Our group is made up of many talented, hard working individuals who make the entire process fun," Pitts added. "Not only did they practice hard, they worked very hard to raise the funds for the trip. I couldn't be more proud of their efforts and accomplishments."

The team sold pizzas, had a spaghetti supper, car wash and yard sale to raise money to pay for the Texas trip.

Pitts said the team wishes to thank everyone who supported their fundraising efforts and specifically those area businesses who made donations: Collins-Evans, Sue Bowser, York's, S&W Feed, Butler's, Cloverdale AgriCenter, First National Bank, Silver Bells Florist, Burdge's Boots, HMSB Insurance, Bane-Welker, Cline Grain, Farm Bureau, Farm Credit, Anita and Bill Nicholson and Taylor Made Awards.
