Family Day crowd to hear about container gardening, meat cuts

Members of the Allspices Extension Club have decorated the Community Building stage in accordance with the theme for this year's Putnam County Fair Family Fun Day, "Welcome to the Family Porch."

On Tuesday, July 22, beginning at 6:30 p.m., members of The Fret Set band will be on hand to share their own porch-style music.

Meanwhile, Family Fun Day (formerly Ladies Day), an annual tradition at the Putnam County Fair, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23.

The program begins with a refreshment and social hour from 9-10 a.m.

The formal program will begin at 10 a.m. with Collletta Kosiba being the morning speaker, talking about container gardening.

After a break for lunch, the afternoon program will begin at 1 p.m. Mitch Myers of Myers' Market in Greencastle will give a talk on meat cuts and offer some barbecue tips.

Door prizes will be awarded during both the morning and afternoon sessions.

The purse auction starts at 2 p.m. with square dancing commencing at 6 p.m.
