BELLMORE -- A 29-year-old Fountain County man drowned late Monday afternoon at Cecil Harden Lake at Raccoon Lake State Recreation Area.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital on Terry L. Johnson and the preliminary report by Dr. Roland Kohr determined cause of death to be consistent with that of drowning.

Indiana Conservation Officers (ICO) responded to the Walker Boat Ramp at Raccoon Lake after a 911 call was made to dispatch reporting a submerged victim.

The incident was reported at 4:57 p.m. and divers arrived on scene at approximately 5:18 p.m.

ICO divers recovered Johnson in approximately eight feet of water just eight minutes after arriving on scene.

EMT's attempted unsuccessfully to resuscitate the victim while transporting him to the St. Vincent Clay Hospital at Brazil.

An investigation of the incident is being conducted by Indiana Conservation Officers.

Responding agencies included Indiana Conservation Officers, Parke County Sheriff's Department and Parke County EMS.
