County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 11:29 a.m. Friday, Joshua David Thompson, 24, Cloverdale, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of controlled substance and operating while intoxicated with a prior.

At 12:05 p.m. Danielle Nicole Tesmer, 22, Greencastle, was charged with operating while intoxicated and for bond revocation.

At 3:25 p.m. Steven Craig Brown, 31, Poland, was housed at the jail for operating while intoxicated.

At 4 p.m. Charles Allen Spiker, 29, Farmersburg, was booked in for probation violation.

At 4:28 p.m. Ethan Dale Dickey, 22, homeless, was arrested for theft and battery with bodily injury.

At 6:35 p.m. Guy Houston Parrish, 27, Greencastle, was charged with theft and possession of a syringe.

At 6:40 p.m. Trey Michael Vickrey, 22, Greencastle, was held at the jail for theft.

At 9:51 p.m. Tim Ray Wallace II, 28, Terre Haute, was booked in for possession of a controlled substance, resisting law enforcement and probation violation.

At 11:30 p.m. Gerald Wayne Rich, 52, Bainbridge, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

At 11:44 p.m. Paige Simpkins, 20, Greencastle, was charged with battery.

* At 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, Richard Cory Waggoner, 29, Indianapolis, was held at the jail for possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

At 8:05 p.m. Justin Phillip Delp, 25, Cloverdale, was booked in for probation violation.

At 8:30 p.m. Jason Travis Dee, 38, Indianapolis, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

* At 4:41 a.m. on Sunday, Donald Joseph Adams, 23, Reelsville, was charged with battery with bodily injury.

Sheriff's Department

* At 4:47 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, Melvin E. Ellis, 90, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 500 East stopped at State Road 240 in a 2003 Chevrolet Trail Blazer. Sgt. Craig Sibbitt said it appeared Ellis failed to yield the right of way, colliding with Destany D. Humphress, 16, Coatesville, who was westbound on 240 in a 2005 Jeep Liberty.

Ellis said he stopped at the intersection and asked his wife if anything was coming. Due to a misunderstanding, he proceeded into Humpress' path.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 11:46 a.m. July 27, Katelyn M. Rector, 25, Mooresville, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta. She told Deputy Adam Hull she didn't notice a vehicle in front of her attempted to turn left.

Rector turned her wheel right to avoid the collision, when she left the road and hit a ditch.

Driver refused medical attention.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has performed one lift assist and responded to multiple calls.

* At 9:22 p.m. Saturday, July 26, GFD was called to 7 S. Locust St. for a malfunctioning fire alarm.

* At 5:51 p.m. Sunday, July 27, GFD was dispatched to 412 S. Jackson St. to repair a fire alarm that had malfunctioned due to water leakage above.

* At 8:38 p.m. Sunday, July 27, GFD was called to the corner of Veterans Memorial Highway and Warren Drive to assist with medical care and debris clean up resulting from a two vehicle accident.

* At 2:45 a.m. Monday, July 28, GFD responded to 100 Putnam Plaza when a semi-trailer struck the north east corner of a building. GFD secured the scene and contacted both the building owner and the building inspector.

* At 1:09 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, GFD was called to East Walnut Street near the Greencastle Fire Station to extinguish a mulch fire.
