Extension Office, PCH set luncheon to kick off walking program

The Purdue Extension Office of Putnam County and Putnam County Hospital invite all women between the ages of 40-78 to their Women Walk Luncheon.

The luncheon is scheduled for noon Wednesday, Aug. 13 at the Putnam County Hospital classrooms, located on the third floor of the hospital. It includes a complimentary lunch, as well as pertinent information about the Women Walk Putnam County Initiative.

Keynote speaker for the luncheon will be Angie Abbott, program director of Health and Human Science, Purdue Extension.

RSVPs are required by Friday, Aug. 8. To RSVP, persons may call Jennifer Cannon at the Purdue Extension office at 653-8411.

Women Walk Putnam County is a new program geared toward women in Putnam County. The program includes weekly walks around several venues in the county where women are able to incorporate physical activity and have fun doing it.

Workshops will also be conducted monthly to inform participants on health tips and information, and monthly wellness checks to see progress or keep their health on track will be conducted. In efforts to maintain and upkeep your weight loss, goals will be set and healthy challenges will be made as the program progresses.

The program will conclude with an award ceremony, and keynote speakers. The entire program is free of charge. For more information on this program and to register, persons may contact Jennifer Cannon at 653-8411.

Putnam County Hospital has been serving its community since 1924, offering state-of-the-art services, which once could only be accessed through larger healthcare facilities.
