Parade of people to thank for fair spectacle

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

To the Editor:

Thank you, Putnam County, for coming out in support of the Putnam County 4-H Fair Parade.

Wow! We had a great show of so many clubs, organizations, companies, etc.

I would like to give a big thank you to an awesome committee: Gordon and Lynette Williams, Shea Mahoney-Sutherland, Ken Heeke, Perry and Rose Wainman, Bob Farrow, Don Mundy, John Jackman, Becky Hunsinger, Doug Wokoun, Mark Evans; and my extra volunteers, Tyler Brammer, Mitch Williams, Alexis Wainman, Trey Wood, Deb Gould, John and Beth Glover Little, Deb Morris, Lori Lucas, Ernie Sheldon, Matt and Karen Headley (sponsors of the Parade of Fitness) and Dorothy and Gerald Edwards for their helpful and insightful tips. This group was amazing.

Special thanks to: Tim Arnold and Jerry Chandler for providing the beautiful carriages/wagon and horses for our grand marshals. The City of Greencastle, Greencastle Community Schools, Greencastle Police, Greencastle Fire Dept. and Greencastle Park and Recreation, INDOT, Steve Baker Septic Services, Therese Cunningham State Farm Insurance and Greencastle Dept. of Public Works for the use of their streets, facilities, parking lots, Robe-Ann Park and personnel for coordination. Tim Gierke and USDA for allowing us to utilize their areas for the many tractors participating in honor of Riley Sutherlin. Greencastle Masonic Temple for the use of their facilities for our reviewing stand. Our judges, Darrel Thomas, Lisa Gedert and Jenny Sullivan.

Many thanks to Greencastle Civic League, Greencastle Rotary, James Coy and Rick Michael for their clean-up efforts along the parade route to keep Greencastle clean.

Much appreciation goes to WREB, Banner Graphic and Hoosier Topics for publicity and news coverage.

Last but not least, thank you, Putnam County Fair Board and Steve Greeson for their support, golf carts, radios and involvement in the parade.

This is not a one-person show. It takes the collective minds and hands of many to make it work. I am very grateful and proud of my community and friends.

If I have missed anyone, I apologize.

We are looking forward to the 2015 parade. Put your creative minds together as you think of how you would like to be involved and/or showcase your club, organization or business. You can't have a parade without willing and enthusiastic participants
