County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 8:32 p.m. on Sunday, Robert Allen Galloway, 26, Cloverdale, was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

*At 8:32 p.m., Jodi Lee Shrake, 31, Cloverdale, was charged with theft.

*At 3 a.m., LaDonna Marie Pedro-Miller, 42, Clayton, was arrested for possession of methamphetamines, possession of paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and possession of a syringe.

At 11:27 a.m., Tracy Lee Boehm, 39, Greencastle, was arrested for visiting a common nuisance and a probation violation.

Indiana State Police

Troopers Kyle Hall and Michael Organ of the Indiana State Police Post at Putnamville have arrested a 27-year-old Greencastle woman in connection with a Vermillion County check deception case.

After a four-day investigation, Kylie Sue Lantzy was arrested Monday afternoon at her Greencastle home on multiple felony charges.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail at 2:50 p.m. Monday, Lantzy was arrested for check forgery, identity deception and check deception.

Troopers believe Lantzy wrote a check from the Clinton victim's bank account that was closed nearly three years ago.

Alleged to have written a check for $97.92 to purchase personal items at the Kroger store in Greencastle on July 26, Lantzy allegedly obtained the Clinton woman's check through a mutual acquaintance, State Police reported.

City Police

Five recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

*At 8:52 p.m. Sunday, Christopher K. Hanneman, 25, and Tyler Vermillion, 23, both of Greencastle, were arrested at Jacob and North Indiana streets in connection with an incident occurring earlier in the evening at an Avenue B residence, Officer Matt Huffman reported.

They were both lodged in the Putnam County Jail, charged with battery, criminal mischief and residential entry.

*At 2:05 a.m. Saturday, Diamante Valenzuela, 29, Crawfordsville, was arrested on a number of charges stemming from a theft at the Walmart store and a reported disturbance at McClure's.

Sgt. Charles Inman reported that Valenzuela allegedly stole a bottle of vodka, valued at $17.88 from Walmart, and then reportedly fled the store and made her way to McClure's on U.S. 231 South, where police were notified of a woman causing a disturbance.

Valenzuela was arrested on charges of theft, disorderly conduct, intimidation, resisting law enforcement and battery on a police officer. She was also held at the Putnam County Jail on a warrant for battery causing bodily injury.

*At 4:27 a.m. Saturday, Randall McMullin, 48, Greencastle, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a prior offense.

Stopped by Officer Nick Eastham at North Indiana and New York streets, McMullin was lodged in the Putnam County Jail after registering a blood-alcohol level of .122 percent under portable breathalyzer testing.

*At 8:01 p.m. Sunday, Bruce Summerlot, 52, Greencastle, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Stopped by Officer Eastham in the Aldi's lot at Putnam Plaza, Summerlot was lodged in the Putnam County Jail after registering a blood-alcohol level of .10 percent under portable breathalyzer testing.

City officers investigated one recent traffic accident in front of 405 Melrose Ave.

*At 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, a one-car accident was reported when a 2000 Honda Civic struck a utility pole and damaged shrubbery at that location. The downed lines from the pole snapping and falling across the roadway also damaged a parked 2010 Toyota, owned by Beth Watson.

Officer Kyle Lee noted that witnesses observed two people running toward Shadowlawn Avenue after the accident.

As Lee was finishing his investigation, however, another vehicle pulled up and Lora Pingleton, 50, Greencastle, told police she was the driver of the Honda Civic. She said after the accident she and a passenger had walked to her house to wake up her husband.

She told police the car veered off the road as she was distracted by yelling at a passenger in the car.

Pingleton was cited for operating a vehicle without financial responsibility.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

One additional citation was reported by city officers.

*At 12:42 a.m. Sunday, Elizabeth Sage, 25, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Eastham on U.S. 231 South for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff's Dept.

At 6:37 p.m. on Sunday, David S. Edwards, 44, Paris, Ill., was westbound on U.S. 40 near U.S. 231 South.

Edwards told Sgt. Jon Chadd that while changing lanes he struck a large oily spot in the roadway, causing him to lose control of his 2004 Kawasaki ZX1000 motorcycle and lay it down and slide into the median.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to three medical runs and multiple dispatches recently.

* At 12:51 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, GFD was dispatched to 750 S. Fillmore Rd. to investigate a fire alarm, no fire was detected.

* At 8:52 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, GFD was called to Casey's General Store at 2 S. Indiana St. in Roachdale when a vehicle struck the building. The incident was reported to have been due to brake failure but the damage was not significant. The business was able to resume after inspection.

* At 6:11 p.m. Sunday, Aug 2., GFD arrived at 129 W. Berry St. to perform an air monitor in a gas leak investigation. Gas was found in the air. GFD turned of the source of the gas and notified Vectren.

* At 9:17 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, GFD was dispatched to the corner of Hanna and Jackson streets to extinguish a small, smoldering mulch fire.

* At 2:23 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, GFD was called to 405 Melrose Ave. in response to a motor vehicle accident. The vehicle struck a power line pole, leaving the pole and a downed power line in the road. No injuries were reported in the incident.
