PUTNAMVILLLE -- The Putnamville Correctional Facility (PCF) has historically been a starting point for several known correctional leaders and the facility has just added to its numbers with two recent graduates from the Indiana Department of Correction Leadership Academy.

Correctional caseworker Ron Cheesman and newly promoted Correctional Lt. Dan Bell completed the program during the Leadership Academy at the Correctional Training Institute in New Castle. It is a two-week program presented by the Staff Development and Training Division of the Indiana Department of Correction. The class graduated on July 25.

Being trained in various areas of leadership such as accountability, responsibility, self-awareness and initiative has promoted a positive attitude within staff, officials said. Part of the academy involved working outside the normal scope of the facility by doing projects from home to build their knowledge as well as activities within teams during the curriculum.

"Leadership is a quality that uses innovation and integrity to produce great results which can be seen in these two influential supervisors," PCF Superintendent Stanley Knight said.

The valuable information learned during this time is sure to enhance their natural leadership qualities as well as be an integral addition to their future as leaders with the Department of

Correction.
