County schools hold scrimmages

The football season made it first appearance this year as the Putnam County schools conducted their inter-squad scrimmages this weekend and home crowds gathered to get their first glimpse of gridiron play.

Greencastle is welcoming coach Ryan Spoonmore this season and South Putnam has its own first year coach in Nathan Aker.

The Tiger Cubs decided to create a game-like experience Saturday by inviting referees to call the scrimmage and get the team used to in-game rules.

The Eagles invited their middle school and youth league counterparts to the field and at one point several generations of South Putnam football took the field at once.
